The Respess Family

Finally Home

Yesterday was M-day: Moving home day. Wow, it is great to be home… finally.

This morning, when Jack woke, he came to our room and jumped in the bed with Meghan and I. Shortly thereafter, he asked, “Mom, did you miss Winnie?” Winnie lives next door and is only 3 years older than Jack. He adores her.

This morning, we had the great experience of eating Dunkin Donuts on the front porch because we have no eating tables yet. We had the biggest laugh because every time Harry took a bite, he put the entire Munchkin (doughnut hole) in his mouth. I think he ate 6 one big bite at a time.

Here are two pictures to enjoy from bed-time last night:

Fun Video: Stairs

One of the benefits of our current house is a set of stairs with hardwood treads that have no carpet runner on them. Although this might sound scary for a family with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old living upstairs, our boys have had a great time with it. In fact, they’ve found the quickest, safest, and most fun ways to get down the stairs. Click on this link to watch the video and enjoy the action!

Ides of March

With the coming of Spring, the boys are spending more time outside and we all are eagerly anticipating the move home. Our builder continues to suggest that the move-in date will be April 1. Is it simply an April Fools’ joke? Either way, we have a couple of recent pictures to share with you. One is of Teddy last week and the second is of Harry playing outside on a warm March day.

Pretty Winter Day

Winter days in Georgia can be miserably cold (rare) or absolutely perfect. Yesterday was one of those perfect days with sun and a temperature that eventually hit 63 degrees. Here are a couple of photos of the older two boys while playing in the back yard yesterday.

Disney World Anticipation

Meghan’s parents are planning to take Jack to Disney next week. They told him about it this week and he is very excited.

At breakfast this morning, we were talking about it. I mentioned that he might see the castle and go on some rides. In turn, he said, “and Jesus. … and God too,” all while nodding his head. How do you respond to that?

The Lonely m&m

I had fixed a small bag of peanuts, raisins, and m&ms as a take-along snack — one for Jack and one for Harry — today as entertainment on a car ride.  On our way home, Jack was finishing up his little treat and said, “Mom, this green m&m is crying.”  I looked back to see a lone m&m in the corner of his ziploc bag.  I asked why he was crying.  “Because the red one and the yellow one left him….but he is going to catch them now,” he said, pointing to his mouth.  He continued, “And if i tee-tee a lot lot lot, they will come out ALL together again.”

I Love It

Meghan and I met with Mary Ann Goss today. She is Jack’s preschool teacher at First Baptist Church. During the conference, I asked her, “Do you love what you do?” I asked because I see the love she has for the kids. It’s a passion, not a job and we can see it in the way Jack gets excited about school.

She answered, “I do. It’s a calling from God. I love it.”

There’s nothing better than to hear that from your child’s teacher.

Different

When loaded back into the car after a quick trip into Harry’s, Jack made a comment about his red hair. I proceeded to ask him, “What color hair do I have, Jack?” thinking this might stir some conversation. He replied, “Black.” I asked him why I have different hair than him. He said, “Because God made it.” I think he grasped, without knowing how to communicate it, that it’s different because God made us different.
